Carbon Reduction Plan

Supplier name: Ovia Group Ltd. Publication date: 20 August 2026. Prepared in accordance with PPN 006.

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Ovia Group Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the UK Government’s legislated 2050 deadline. This reflects both the nature of our business as a net zero and decarbonisation advisory consultancy, and a genuine commitment to holding ourselves to the standard we advise our clients to meet.

Baseline emissions footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases produced prior to the introduction of any reduction strategies, and represent the reference point against which future reductions are measured.

Ovia Group Ltd was incorporated in September 2024. As a newly established organisation without a prior period of operation to draw comparative data from, and operating without dedicated premises, a company vehicle fleet, or employees beyond its sole director, the organisation’s baseline year is set as its first full year of trading.

Baseline year: 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025

Emissions sourceBaseline year (tCO2e)
Scope 1 (direct emissions)0
Scope 2 (purchased electricity)0.15 (estimated)
Scope 3: Business travel0.6 (estimated)
Scope 3: Employee commuting0 (not applicable, no employees)
Scope 3: Waste generated in operations0.02 (estimated)
Scope 3: Upstream transportation and distributionNot material to current operations
Scope 3: Downstream transportation and distributionNot material to current operations
Total emissions0.77 tCO2e (estimated)

Figures marked “estimated” are first-year estimates, calculated using published DESNZ conversion factors applied to indicative activity levels for a sole-director, home-based consultancy. They have not been verified against recorded activity data and will be confirmed or corrected at the next review.

Current emissions reporting

As the baseline year above represents Ovia Group Ltd’s first full year of trading, this also constitutes the current reporting position at the date of publication. Current-year emissions will be reported separately from the 2025/26 reporting year onwards, once a full second year of activity data is available for comparison.

Additional detail on emissions calculation

  • Scope 1: Ovia Group Ltd owns no vehicles, plant, or combustion equipment. Scope 1 emissions are therefore recorded as zero.
  • Scope 2: Ovia Group Ltd operates without dedicated commercial premises. The estimated figure reflects apportioned home-working electricity consumption, using the DESNZ published homeworking emissions factor applied to a single home-based worker.
  • Business travel: estimated on the basis of periodic client site visits and in-person engagement across the North West, Wales, and wider UK public sector clients, using standard mileage-based conversion factors. This is the category most likely to require correction once actual mileage records are reviewed.
  • Employee commuting: Ovia Group Ltd has no employees beyond its sole director, who works from a home base. This category is recorded as not applicable.
  • Waste generated in operations: estimated on a minimal basis reflecting general office waste from home-based working, given the absence of physical premises or manufacturing activity.
  • Upstream and downstream transportation and distribution: Ovia Group Ltd is an advisory consultancy and does not itself move, manufacture, or distribute physical goods. Where physical infrastructure work (EV charging and solar installation) is delivered, this is carried out by separately engaged, independently OZEV-accredited delivery partners under their own operational and environmental responsibility, and is not treated as part of Ovia Group Ltd’s own Scope 3 footprint at this stage. This position will be kept under review as the business grows.

Emissions reduction targets

Ovia Group Ltd commits to reducing emissions from its 2024/25 baseline year on the way to achieving Net Zero by 2040. Given the organisation’s current scale and already minimal direct footprint, the primary reduction opportunity lies in business travel, the largest single category identified above.

We project that, through the measures set out below, total emissions will reduce from an estimated 0.77 tCO2e in the baseline year to below 0.5 tCO2e by the 2028/29 reporting year, a reduction of approximately 35%, principally through reduced business travel intensity as remote-first delivery is embedded further into client engagements.

Carbon reduction projects

Completed initiatives

  • Adoption of a digital-first, paperless working model across all client documentation and reporting
  • A remote-first delivery model, reserving in-person client travel for engagement points where physical presence adds genuine value, rather than as a default
  • Publication of this Carbon Reduction Plan and a supporting Environmental Policy Statement, formalising environmental governance appropriate to the organisation’s current scale
  • A deliberate preference for diversified, resilient EV hardware sourcing in infrastructure delivery work, supporting equipment longevity and reducing early replacement

Planned initiatives

  • Introduce structured tracking of business mileage and travel activity from the 2026/27 reporting year, replacing estimated figures with measured data
  • Review the case for formal carbon accounting software or a UKAS-accredited Environmental Management System as the organisation’s scale and client base grow
  • Where practical, favour rail travel over car travel for longer-distance client engagements, and consolidate multi-purpose visits to reduce total trips
  • Revisit and refresh emissions estimates annually, aligned with the annual review of this Plan and Ovia Group Ltd’s Environmental Policy Statement
